					<description><![CDATA[<p>This March, the Kingston District Labour Council is proud to support Period Promise, a national initiative addressing period poverty and advancing menstrual equity in our communities. The labour movement’s work in this area began in 2009 with “Tampon Tuesday,” launched by union activist Mandi Fields after she discovered empty shelves in a local food bank’s hygiene cupboard. With support from community leaders and partners across the country — including the Canadian Labour Congress and local labour councils — the initiative grew into a powerful example of solidarity in action.
